Workshops

In addition to teaching Inside and Outside the classroom, Arles à la carte offers a number of Workshops designed to give students innovative, more hands-on ways to develop their French language skills. We highly recommend signing up for one or more of these Workshops in addition to French classes and Guided Tours!

All Workshops are conducted in French (unless otherwise requested) and are open to language learners of all levels.

Language Lunches

In order to keep speaking in French after your classes and to enjoy local cuisine, language lunches are held throughout the program with your language instructor(s) at different Arlesian cafés, restaurants or bistros.
Language lunches include a main course (dish of the day, hearty mixed salad, etc) and a drink or tea / coffee as well as over an hour of French conversation !
Arles à la carte highly recommends combining classes with language lunches as it’s one of the best ways to put your French to good use, while living life “à la française” !

French Through Art !

Express yourself in French… though the arts! Give free rein to your creative self; combine arts-related vocabulary with trying your hand at painting, drawing, sketching, collage, storytelling, origami-making and / or creative writing in this Expressive Arts Workshop, all in French! This fun, hands-on approach to language learning is for people of all ages looking for a unique way to practice a unique way to practice French. Absolutely no artistic skills necessary.

Yoga Classes

Practice Adi Vajra Shakti yoga or “Yoga de l’être” with a certified yoga instructor. Find out more at yogaenarles.fr. Private classes, taught in French or English, are available for yoga students of all levels upon request for one or more student(s). Students are also free to sign up for group classes conducted in French that run throughout the school year.

Cooking classes

Whether you prefer the sound of trying your hand at home-made French desserts or of concocting a full meal under the instruction of a professional chef, all the while enjoying the relaxed Provençal atmosphere, Arles à la carte will help you find a cooking class that works best for you.

Photography

What better place to fine tune your photography skills than Arles, home to the Rencontres international photography festival and the Ecole Supérieure Nationale de Photographie ? Arles à la carte offers Photography Workshops for amateur photographers, led by a professional photographer and designed to fit each person’s interests and skill level. All Photography Workshops make the most of the Roman monuments and major sites in Arles in addition to some less well-known locations to give students ample shooting practice accompanied by professional feedback.

Wine tasting

Workshop specially designed to initiate the wine tasting palate while developing the French vocabulary necessary to speak intelligently about wines (as well as anything else you might like to taste !)

Flamenco

Discover the art of flamenco dance with Guillermo, professional flamenco guitarist and his company, Calle Flamenca. Learn the initial flamenco steps with a company dancer, accompanied by Guillermo, then enjoy a brief flamenco presentation!
